Publishing his first book after being equipped at ITA: The story of Michele Galasso

One of the blessings and benefits of training men for pastoral ministry is seeing the fruit of their ministry following their training. This is especially both a blessing and benefit when that fruit is the product of your training directly.

Looking back this month of September 2018 ITA is grateful for one of its graduates in particular. He continues to bring forth the fruit of his equipping received at ITA in his local pastorate and in the rest of Italy. His training is in other words impacting not only his own local church but other local churches and believers throughout the country.

Michele Galasso, elder and pastor in the region of Milan, recently published a book challenging Charismatic Theology with the Word of God. His work, in electronic format only, confronts Charismatic theology with Scripture. The goal of this contrast and comparison is in order to provide biblically sound help to many believers in Italy who struggle with confusion resulting from Charismatic doctrine and experience with Charismatic movements.

According to Michele, his study commenced several years ago when a few believers coming from a charismatic background began attending his Bible church. They sought to know the differences between what they had been taught in their past church life with respect to the teaching in their new local church reality. This need drew him to a thorough study of Scripture with the intent of biblically addressing the following questions:

  • What does the Bible say about the role experience plays in one’s walk of faith?
  • What does the Bible say about the work of the Holy Spirit in the believer’s life?
  • What does the Bible say about the gifts of the Spirit to the Church?
  • What does the Bible say about how sanctification truly works?

Some of the resources Michele cites that were of significant help to him for his book were… a class he attended at ITA on an exposition of the Book Acts taught by visiting professor Dr. Keith Essex and an ITA conference he attended on Charismatic Theology taught by pastor Shane Koehler (Faith Community Church, Atlanta, GA).

We praise God for men like Michele Galasso and numerous others whom the Lord has seen fit to have trained for His glory in Italy through… The Italian Theological Academy.
